About Debbie
Like many others I had seen Tai chi on TV and film and admired the strength and grace of the movements. During a career break following the birth of my daughter, I had the opportunity to try a class at my local gym in 2002 and after just the first class I was well and truely hooked. The stillness, the movements and the energy were different from anything I had tried before.
Again like many in the UK, as a beginner I learnt the Yang style 24 move form, moving on to the Long form after about a year. Classes also included elements of Qigong alongside the Tai chi. I moved on to Chen style, learning the Laojia under the watchful eyes of Eva and Karel Koskuba and the Chinese Internal Arts Association. I have also studied a Fan form and the White Ape and Pear Blossom Spear form. I began the Instructors course in 2006, having started teaching in September 2005. I qualified in September 2008. I also hold the City & Guilds 7407 qualification in teaching adults.
I have attended several seminars lead by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, the 'Standardbearer' of the 19th generation of the Chen Family.
I am a member of the Chinese Internal Arts Association, the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts and th Tai Chi Union of Great Britain.
I hold full indemnity insurance.
